We recommend that you use a gentle facial cleanser to freshen your skin during the first week. Do not splash wash your face. Do however clean your enhancement twice daily with damp cotton pads.

If your lip tattoo gets wet, gently pat the area dry using a clean tissue.
Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR RUB your lips as the colour may heal unevenly and you could risk infection, which in turn could lead to scarring.
Allow the colour to flake away by itself.
No make-up should be applied close to your lip area for 3 days.
Avoid eating spicy and salty foods and drink through a straw for 3 days.
No kissing for 5 days to prevent infection

Important Notes
If you suffer from cold sores at present or anytime in the past use an anti-herpes medication 5 times daily for 1 week. If an outbreak does occur it will generally begin on day 3 of the healing process.
Remember, your selected colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for 4 – 5 days and will then shed away appearing as if little or no colour is present. Over the next 3 weeks, the colour will blossom into a considerably softer version of the original colour.
The approximate healing period is 14 days, however, healing can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised if you are generally stressed and by poor diet.
Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the top-up visit allowing us to fine-tune your lip tattoo.

Areola Aftercare
Over the next 14 to 21 days your tattooed area will go through three stages of healing:
1. Heal:
The body’s natural defences will create fine scabs to protect the area whilst healing.
2. Peel:
After a few days, when the tattooed area is healed, the scabs will fall off.
Do Not Pick off the scabs from the treated area as this will result in pigment loss.
3. Fade:
Once the scabs have finely healed and fallen off
the tattooed area, you will see a lighter shade of the implanted colour. After 4/6 weeks the pigment in the tattoo will have settled and this will be the colour of your nipple and areola.
You may decide to have further tattooing to add more colour and this will be discussed at your follow up appointment with me.
What should you expect after the procedure?
The dressing, which is applied immediately after tattooing, should remain in place for at least a day as the areola area may continue bleeding.
This dressing should not be allowed to get wet as this may affect the result of the pigment colour.
After your treatment you may experience slight swelling and redness and your skin may feel ‘tight’. We will discuss with you ways to ease discomfort, which may include taking over-the-counter paracetamol, however do not exceed the maximum dosage of 8 tablets in 24 hours.
These symptoms should subside within 1 to 7 days, depending on how sensitive your skin is.
Skin care instructions
The following instructions must be carefully followed for 14 days after your tattoo to ensure a successful result and to reduce the risk of infection.
The next day you can have a shower or bath, however, do not use soap or soak the pigmented area with water. Keep the pigmented area clean and dry. Apply yellow soft paraffin/bepanthen ointment over the nipple and areola area and place gauzes in your bra to aid comfort.
Do not sleep on your stomach.
To prevent infection, try not to touch the pigmented area with your fingers until it is completely healed.

Essential Information
Please remember that the colour is up to 50% darker straight after the treatment and can take a little time to adjust to the colour and the new shape. The area will start to scab over very slightly and then begin to flake off, you will lose around 30-50% of the colour implanted over the next 7 days and after the first treatment they can be quite patchy and faded looking. The true colour will not come through until up to 4 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing skin. Under no circumstances should you have further permanent cosmetic work undertaken during the 4-week period.
If the aftercare is not followed correctly then the finished result may not be desirable and you may need additional treatments which will be at a further cost to yourself.
Because everyone's skin is different and some people's skin takes better to it than others, multiple treatments are sometimes necessary which will be at a further cost to yourself.
When having a top up treatment, if the area being treated has faded too much or lost its shape then you may need a second top up treatment which will be at a further cost to yourself.
Infections and allergic reactions although very rare, can happen. To avoid infection please follow the aftercare instructions correctly. An allergic reaction response may include redness, severe itching, swelling, a rash, blistering, dryness or any other symptom associated with an allergy. If this happens, please contact your General Practitioner immediately.
